QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed – registered in the State of New Jersey
National Athletic Trainers Association Certification
Advanced First Aid Certification
Emergency Medical Technician Certification recommended.
The Athletic Trainer must have on file his/her criminal background check.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shall provide under the prescription of a licensed physician as appropriate, prevention, management (first aid, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation) of athletic trauma or other medical problems that affect the athlete, as well as counseling the athlete in various health related areas such as nutrition, diet, personal health habits, etc., during after school activities.
REPORTS TO: Vice Principal for Athletics and Student Activities
EVALUATION: Principal and Vice Principal of Athletics and Student Activities
SUPERVISES: Student trainers when available
START DATE: January 2, 2025
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Athletic Trainer
- Shall provide services Monday through Friday to all home contests, Saturdays – Varsity Football home and away contests as first priority; other home events as second priority.
- Shall provide emergency care.
- Shall supervise whirlpools, rehabilitation, etc., as prescribed by a licensed physician in the state.
- Shall maintain treatment and emergency records.
- Shall assist the Vice Principal for Athletics and Student Activities with maintenance and accountability of training equipment.
- Shall compile budget for athletic injuries with the school nurse.
- Shall coordinate reports of athletic injuries with the school nurse.
- Shall inventory and order training supplies.
- Shall advise coaches and athletes on conditioning, diet, safety and equipment.
- Shall report to and advise the Vice Principal for Athletics and Student Activities on all matters relating to the above responsibilities.
- Assist with sports physicals.
- Perform any other appropriate functions as determined by the Vice Principal for Athletics and Student Activities and as provided by the Principal.
