QUALIFICATIONS: The Guidance Counselor~High School shall hold an appropriate certificate issued by the State Board of Education. The Guidance Counselor must have on file his/her criminal background check.

JOB GOAL: The Guidance Counselor~High School shall help students overcome problems and assist them in making educational, career and life plans.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The remainder of 2024-25 School Year

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Guidance Counselor – High School
- Shall work in consultation with the Principal, other staff members, parents, district residents and pupils to develop:
- A written educational plan for the school.
- Written educational objectives and standards for the educational plan based upon district and school goals.
- Written educational goals for the school.
- Shall demonstrate effective participation in the coordination of the guidance program between various grade levels and between elementary and secondary levels and sending districts.
- Shall work in consultation with the Principal and other staff members in the development of procedures for reporting pupil progress to parents or guardians including:
- parent-teacher conferences
- parent-counselor conferences
- report cards
- pupil progress reports
- parents’ visits to the school
- Shall confer with parents and/or other staff members concerning student progress.
- Shall work in consultation with the Principal and other staff members in the development of standards for achievement and minimum graduation standards.
- Shall develop a reasonable working relationship with other members of the staff as well as administrators.
- Shall develop a positive interpersonal relationship with students in the areas of academic, personal and social counseling.
- Shall make a reasonable effort to keep abreast of current educational developments particularly in the areas of guidance, pupil personnel services, school policies and curriculum.
- Shall engage in the development of staff improvement programs and participate in those programs which bear on the areas of assigned responsibilities.
- Shall demonstrate an ability to organize and structure the assigned responsibilities while maintaining student needs as the highest priority.
- Shall cooperate in implementing and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policies.
- Shall perform assigned responsibilities in a professional manner in areas which include but are not limited to the following:
- Scheduling
- Testing
- Counseling
- Maintaining accurate student records in a timely manner
- College/career counseling
- Family counseling
- Shall maintain every effort to perform reasonable duties which may be necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the educational program of the district and which are incident to the position of Guidance Counselor.
- Shall meet with every student assigned to them.
